Encouragement

What every magical girl needs

I’ve been in the thick of a new, whimsical creative project (the project I mentioned was hush hush a few essays ago). And each day, I find myself face-to-face with doubts and troubling what ifs—some that are “ancient history” and others that are brand new with razor teeth and a thirst for my fairy dust.

Dramatic? Yes. But it really does feel that way.

You may be going through something similar: tackling a project, creative endeavor, or a demanding life situation. With lots of fear and lots of feelings.

And even with those fears..there are hopes; true desires. Desires for connection, for peaceful days, for good friends, for a new path or a dream to blossom like a magic flower.

As our doubts and fears become exposed on our path to these desires and hopes, these dreams, we need encouragement.

So if you’re sitting up in your room right now, feeling lonely and sad and worried: Will I do a good job? Am I on the right track? Will everything work out in the end? Below is a list of encouraging phrases to lift your spirits.

Sometimes there’s no one there to tell you that you can do it, so you must tell yourself that you can. When the need arises and you feel trapped, remind yourself of these words. Let them become a pillar of truth in your heart: A mystical, sparkling Shangri-La of validation...

Take it easy, you are doing amazing!

Your heart is a beautiful place.

This anxious moment won’t last forever.

You will find a way

What a bright soul you have!

You deserve to have fun. You deserve happiness and good things.

If you find beauty and worthwhileness in it, then there is beauty in it and, it is, indeed, worthwhile.

You look so cute today

Your hard work and efforts are magical.

Here (in your heart) lies the validation you need.

Trust yourself, believe in your bright tomorrow. You are capable, my friend.

You can try again

Permission granted to rest.

You can take your time, it’s okay.

I love who you are, so much.

Your creativity rocks

You are alive to live, not to be criticized.

Good things are coming.

Everything you need will find its way to you.

Your dreams matter

And these dreams are coming to life.

A leap of faith: take it and see.

As Mulan once said, it’s okay to be afraid.

You can do it

I first wrote these in my journal, beginning as a very long, very much drafted list, to comfort myself.

I hope it brings you comfort too. That you feel less alone.

Wether you’re a girl on a train headed far away or an employee with sad eyes, or a nice lady at the cash register, or a hopeful romantic staring out her bedroom window at night—you might be going through it, one way or another; facing off antagonists and plot twists and chaotic feelings, as you journey through your personal story.

To you, to me, to us all, I say: Yes, life’s not always easy. But we can take it easy. We can continue to hold on to our hopes and dreams; to the belief that everything in our lives will work out beautifully.

Dear magical girl, be encouraged.

And go forth with courage.

Wherever you are <3
