After
What happens when a storm blows through
The rubble and dust and forgotten items roll around, wondering to where their owners and places of belongings have vanished.
Next year is tomorrow, and still a lot has happened in the past few months to this fairy, and possibly to you, (half of it unpleasant, half of it shocking) that has our today feeling like “dust is still settling.”
So, to celebrate getting through tough times, and going into this new year with a clearer head and fresh eyes: here are a few things I find myself doing (and will continue to do), in the “after”.
Make Something Cute
★
A doodle, a poem, a chunky jewelry piece, even a DIY-d journal cover!
Making something cute, I’ve found, puts a smile on my face despite all the ridiculousness that has come before; a wonderful bit of pep in my step.
A flash of color or sparkle, and I’m all giggles—imagining a future me strutting down the streets in whatever I’ve made. Or, if it’s inside a book, re-reading and admiring pages I’ve decorated/written in.
You have to create small moments of joy for yourself, a little (not-so-surpising) surprise to uplift you as you carry out daily tasks.
“I’m living life in style,” you can say. Teehee!
Hibernate
♥︎
I am a cozy, fuzzy, teddy-bear when a lot happens at once.
After I've completed the hard work and effort that it takes to get through whatever it is I needed to get through, I find I must curl up in bed.
Immediately.
Maybe grab a cup of hot chamomile tea, rummage for some snacks. Or just turn on a colorful cartoon and nap every two episodes.
Sleep and sleep and sleep some more.
Wake up to eat. Back to bed, roll to the side, roll on my back. Admire the ceiling. Then doze off once again.
Sometimes you need to hibernate.
Seek Tiny Inspo
❀
It doesn’t have to be a long-winded video or a 5000 word article encouraging you with twenty steps.
It could just be a cute picture you found browsing the interwebs, a quote that made you LOL or made you cry (a really good-cry!).
Maybe it’s that one chapter in your favorite book or that pop song on repeat like five times.
Maybe it’s a movie you know word for word. Or maybe it’s sitting outside to watch the lizards take cover from the rain.
Seek, in the softest way possible, all the little teeny-tiny inspo laying in wait to give you hope, good vibes, and joyful ideas for the new days ahead.
Hey magical girl, just take your time in the After okay? You don’t have to rush through anything, take a deep breath and know that better days are coming.
You’ve done the most, now it’s time to curl up and rest, like a cute whimsical ghost!
See you next year.
It’s going to be lovely soon; I just have a feeling.
magical kisses and hugs,
Anastasia
